NPDES eRule Readiness and Reporting Dashboard

The dashboards below show state and permittee progress toward electronically reporting and sharing wastewater discharge data and biosolids monitoring data with EPA's national NPDES data system. The DMR data used in the dashboard are updated each weekend. The biosolids data used in the dashboard are updated annually (usually in June). Permittees must report wastewater discharge data on forms called "Discharge Monitoring Reports" or "DMRs." States must share these DMR data with EPA. These data are necessary to determine whether wastewater permit violations occurred and if these forms were submitted on time. EPA also collects biosolids monitoring data to demonstrate compliance with EPA's national biosolids regulations (40 CFR part 503). The dashboard shows three views showing progress with electronic reporting implementation and data sharing:

  • The DMR Reporting Method view shows the method used by the permittee to submit their DMRs (e.g., electronic submission, paper submission).
  • The DMR Data Completeness view shows the progress states are making in sharing facility, permit, and DMR data with EPA's national NPDES data system.
  • The Biosolids Annual Report view shows the method used by the facility to submit their biosolids annual report (e.g., electronic submission, paper submission).

Users can also access an EPA Regional view or monthly snapshots of the DMR data, which illustrate the DMR data sharing progress for each state. If the dashboard is not displaying correctly, consider adjusting your browser's zoom level (80% is recommended for this page).

The NPDES eRule Dashboard User Guide page provides help on how to use this dashboard. Please review the user guide for more detailed information on this dashboard as well as examples and best practices for EPA Region and state Water Data Stewards.
